The Gasser Foundation consists of friends, relatives and former business associates of Peter and Vernice Gasser. Al Johnson was the Gasser's banker, Julian Stern was their attorney, and Amelia (Bid) Scaruffi is a niece of the Gassers. The Board meets once a month to discuss Foundation activity and determine grant distribution.
Cliff Hartle (bottom right) was a lifelong friend of Peter Gasser. Peter brought Cliff out of retirement to advise him on how to establish the Gasser Foundation and ultimately became the founder and first President. The foundation was founded in 1980 by Cliff Hartle but did not start funding substantial grants until Vernice's death in 89. Cliff then brought in Joseph Peatman, formerly of Dickenson, Peatman and Fogarty, who had a long association with Peter and Cliff Hartle.
