How to Apply
The Gasser Foundation is committed to the wellbeing of Napa County – its people and places. To that end, we support programs which enhance quality of life and sustain the environment. We encourage grant applications that build on current assets with public and private partnership approaches, especially those which improve access for the underserved in our community, and that can be sustained beyond the life of our grant. Only organizations exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and eligible for tax-deductible support, located in and serving Napa County, and which are not supported in whole by public funds can receive Gasser Foundation grants.
Fields of interest include: the arts, education, economic development for charitable purposes, health and human services, nutrition and shelter, recreation and the environment. We allow expenses for start-up, capital and one time expenses, and infrastructure for a maximum of three continuous years. Current initiatives include:
- Sustainable Napa County, an effort to reduce the carbon footprint of Napa county through renewable energy and energy conservation;
- Mental Health Initiative, designed to provide housing and services through agency collaboration;
- Initiative on Aging, collaborative planning and health and social services for our aging population;
- Safety net and survival services on an as-needed basis.
The Gasser Foundation uses a two-step process to evaluate requests for funding. The first step in requesting support is to submit a concept letter, asking for an invitation to apply. The Foundation accepts these letters at all times during the year. Foundation staff reviews each letter to determine if a full proposal will be invited. If your organization is invited to submit a full proposal, guidelines will be sent outlining the proposal process. Once the full proposal is received, a deeper review is conducted by staff before the Board of Trustees makes a determination about funding. The members of the Board of Trustees convene to review proposals at the beginning of the calendar year. However, emergency funding, by invitation only, will be considered throughout the year.
